Language is the bridge, culture is the key

May 21st marked the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and
Development,
and it is a great time for global businesses to reflect on what “diversity” truly means.

Established by the UN and UNESCO, this day isn’t just about celebrating different traditions or languages. It is about recognizing cultural diversity as a fundamental building block for a better world.

According to UNESCO, valuing and protecting our diverse cultural backgrounds is a critical driver for:

  • Sustainable Development: Diverse perspectives lead to more resilient and innovative global solutions.
  • Poverty Reduction: Empowering local cultures economically creates stronger, self-sustaining communities.
  • Social Cohesion: Fostering dialogue between cultures builds trust and stability across borders.

For global organizations, this is a reminder that entering a new market is a privilege. True globalization isn’t about erasing differences to make business easier; it is about leaning into those differences to create genuine connections. When we embrace what makes us different, we build stronger, more authentic connections.

At Latamways, we spend every single day navigating the nuances of different languages and cultures. Today, we want to pause and celebrate the unique voices, traditions, and perspectives that make global business so rewarding.

Language is the bridge, but true understanding comes from respecting the culture behind the words.

How does your organization celebrate and respect the diverse cultures of the markets you operate in?
We’d love to hear your thoughts.

Celebrating Growth, Inclusion, and the Women of Latamways

This month, we are taking a moment to recognize the women who make a real impact in our industry. At Latamways, we want to celebrate the talented people who help our team and our wider community thrive.

Growing From Within
We are thrilled to announce the promotions of two dedicated team members: Candela is our new Operations Director, and Carla has stepped up as PM Supervisor. Seeing them advance shows exactly why we care so much about supporting our team and building strong leadership from the inside out.

Empowerment Through Partnership
We recently teamed up with #SheBelongs to translate their content and help them connect with a larger audience. We took on this project because we believe in taking practical, everyday steps to make the world more inclusive.

Innovation & Community
Finally, we want to recognize the partners at Latamways for their years of volunteering with Women in Localization. Their work helps educate and connect women globally, creating new career opportunities. It’s a mission that perfectly matches our own goal of building a fairer future for everyone.

Over to You! How is your team celebrating this month? We’d love to hear what you have planned—just hit reply and share your story with us!
